Our house was built in 1930 – 92 years old. We started searching for new floors in 2019. The plan was to resurface our hardwood floors and do the rest in Luxury Vinyl Plank Flooring. We ended up at a supplier that sold flooring and specialty bathrooms but did no installations. They had relationships with installers but it was left to the customer to interface directly with the installers, who took control of your project. The supplier/installer relationship didn’t work out for us, so we dropped the plans.
We picked the plans up again this year, dropping the hardwood resurface and instead choosing to do the whole house in Luxury Vinyl. We made our way to The Flooring Center, a firm visible from I4, for decades. We worked with Ryan Schaffer who handled both the ordering and installation scheduling and quoted installation prices. This I found far more convenient in estimating the costs. Ryan has excellent customer relation skills and uses no sales gimmicks. He was straight forward and offered us the option to take a few of the samples with us to see how they looked in our home. That did it for us.
Prior to installation, we rented a Pod to store our stuff. The actual installation took three days. The age of the house meant there would be challenges to overcome. The floor at the back of our house slopes downward starting with a bit of a bump. That had to be resolved so the planks would not buckle. Several coats of cement were required to remediate the effects of the slope. The alternative was to use a transition threshold which would have broken up the flow of the room.
The installers did a wonderful job and we are both very pleased. An old house has lots of issues and each time one came up, the installer brought me into the discussion and for that I was thankful.
I highly recommend The Flooring Center and installer Mike Bradley and his team.
