'06 Karastan Broadloom Additions Designed to Make a Statement
March 01, 2006
- By harnessing the latest production technologies and wedding it to ingenious design concepts, Karastan is creating new broadloom patterns with extraordinary textures and detailing. Its latest crop of styles for 2006 reflects this new era in weaving, each design testing the limits of imagination and performance.
Johansen is visually compelling with its climbing vine motif atop a striped field. The definition and dimension of the layered decoration are unparalleled, yielding a damask-like effect. The woven loop tip-sheared construction is of pure New Zealand wool assuring reliable durability for today’s most demanding lifestyles. The 10 color options are from a palette of soft, organic shades.
A perfect coordinate with Johansen, but also a winner in its own right, is Normanton. A European checkerboard pattern distinguishes this handsome newcomer. The design versatility of Normanton is obvious; it’s an ideal choice for any room and any décor. The carpet is constructed of 100 percent New Zealand wool that is tip-sheared, contributing to its luxurious appearance and superb performance. The selection of colors is a match to Johansen.
Another organically-inspired design is Consuelo. This distinctive beauty features a botanical decoration that can add sophistication and elegance as it helps to bring a bit of nature indoors. The cut and loop weave is tip sheared and constructed of 100 percent New Zealand wool. Consuelo is available in 13 soft tinted colors.
Oakworth is reminiscent of braided rugs, with alternating rows of high and low loops in heathered colorations that create a pronounced linear pattern. Oakworth is both fashionable and practical, with barefoot softness and bounce-back durability owing to its pure New Zealand wool weave. There are 13 color options.
Coordinating with Oakworth is Oakworth Block. This design packs a powerful decorating punch with alternating squares of cut and uncut yarns forming tonal blocks of color. It’s a tailored, timeless look that is equally impressive when installed as a solo choice. Also a New Zealand wool product, Oakworth Block promises to retain its good looks throughout a lifetime of wear.
Aurora is graphic and dramatic; a style that conveys sophistication and glamour. It is densely decorated with orbs in various sizes and shades of the same color all layered upon each other. The look is a step out of the Art Deco period but with a thoroughly modern aesthetic. Aurora is being offered in Jungle Sunset featuring organic greens or Arctic in a neutral palette.
Traditionalists will appreciate the introduction of William Morris. It is Karastan’s homage to the designer famous for intricate floral and foliage motifs that are derivative of both Persian and vintage European textiles of the late 1800’s Arts and Crafts Movement. This broadloom style is available in red, green, black, gold or ivory.
A combination of thick and thin yarns creates a cabled texture distinguishing Macabi. This style is a perennial—transcending trends, furniture and décor preferences. What’s more, constructed of 100 percent StainMaster Tactesse Nylon, it’s a carpet choice that can keep pace with active families and the untold wear and tear of daily living. Macabi not only looks and feels good, it also repels stains, resists soiling and withstands heavy foot traffic. It is available in 32 colorways.
