New York Fashion Week for Fall 2017 no sooner came to a close when, in what seemed like moments later, looks from the hottest fashions in haute couture stepped off the runway and into our home décor. Karastan’s beautiful carpets take inspiration from some of the runways best styles, including fluid romantic florals, bold plaids and vibrant hues of denim blue, golden yarrow and flaming orange.
Fall Florals – Florals blooming late in the season are unexpected but not unwelcome. The muted, painterly petals in fall’s frocks resonate with deep purple and poppy red for a romantic, mysterious look. Karastan’s Patina takes that watercolor effect and blurs into an impressionist’s garden of delight.
Icy Grey Suiting – In contrast to voluptuous florals, many designers tightened their grip on fluidity with textures and patterns that moved in lockstep precision. Most notable is Thom Browne’s men’s-inspired suit collection. Natty coats and trousers in tweeds, argyles and houndstooth check brought an updated look to traditional icy grey suiting. Karastan’s Berwick Tweed carpet takes to the timeless style of architectural weaves in monochromatic granite grey and silver patterns.
Color Casting –The season’s best looks were done up in a tasteful palette of classic autumnal colors. Pantone’s analysis of color cues from this month’s fashion shows revealed five leading shades: Niagara, Primrose Yellow, Lapis blue, Flame and Island Paradise respectively.
Plaids – An offshoot of designers’ occasional obsession with geometry, plaids from prep school uniform to conservative tartan, hit the runways hard this season. Squares are everywhere from demure gingham checks to oversized crisscrossing abstracts. Nothing says classic styling better than a sophisticated plaid!
Shimmer & Shine – Shine abounded on this year’s runway, continuing the metallic trend started last year. Pants, dresses, billowy skirts – all spectacularly spun in precious metal sheen. Karastan unites traditional Persian inspired styling with luxurious fibers to craft rugs with ultra-softness and a hint of silken shimmer.
Each year, the styles of New York Fashion Week easily translates into trending home couture. Some years, it’s a stretch to go from runway to room, but 2017 did it without dropping a stitch.
