July 13, 2015
This past week, Karastan unveiled the latest in luxury at the July 2015 International Area Rug Market, hosted at Atlanta’s AmericasMart. Deemed as the “ignition switch” of global retail, each July market brings buyers from every U.S. state and as many as 90 countries, each hunting the 1,400 showrooms and over 10,300 temporaries for the freshest home furnishings and fashions.
Drawing attention and excitement inside Karastan’s alluring 1920’s Prohibition era showroom was the debut of the Spice Market Collection. “Spice Market may have been our most successful rug collection to date,” said Tracy Pruitt, Karastan’s Vice President of Design. One part exotic, one part traditional, Spice Market boldly combines the best of both worlds, utilizing a modern twist on the timeless trademark designs the Karastan legacy was built upon. Stealing global inspiration for both color and design, the Spice Market brazenly basked in new horizons and the reaction was pure applause.
Spice Market launch aside, anticipation was doubly high for the reveal of a limited edition Axminster rug, the Mystic Garden. With only 75 of these exceptional rugs created, attendants packed in to see the debut and claim one for their own before the design is locked in the vault forever. Woven of wool and silk, Mystic Garden made history as the first-ever use of silk in an Axminster rug. “The sparkle and shine of the silk gives the rug a mystical quality. It’s neutral and dramatic at the same time, which is something that will speak to today’s decorators and customers,” added Pruitt.
Styles from this July’s market are expected to be available in early Fall.
