Wonder Rug of America
October 7th - 24th
Direct from the 1933 Chicago World's Fair
Come see the Wonder Rug of America
only at Macy's in Chicago.
The Karastan Rug Collection was introduced in the Spring of 1928. It was labeled "The Wonder Rug of America".
Pattern 791 was introduced in 1932. The style is known as the "tree of life" pattern meaning Divine Power and Perpetual Life in Persian Symbolism.
It was wear tested at the 1933-34 Chicago World's Fair. The rug was clocked by an electric eye while 12,900,000 visitors walked over the rug.
After the Fair, the rug was returned to the mill in Eden, NC, where only half of the rug was washed, returning it to its original beauty of 33 skein dyed colors.
The rug has been stored at the mill in NC and is returning to Chicago for the first time since 1934 as a tribute to our partnership with Macy's.
