Karastan Impresses with Newest Rug Designs for 2006
January 01, 2006
- Karastan is delivering on its Make a Statement brand promise. Its newest rug designs for 2006 exude the brilliance of classic styling for today’s living.
Classic…Timeless…Original Karastan… Original Karastan is the brand’s mainstay and grows nearly every season with outstanding additions. The two new patterns joining this family of designs for 2006 are Persian Tapestry and Bidjar.
Bidjar is saturated and dense with finely rendered details. A profusion of individual blossoms are organized along diagonal branches flanking a simple rosette center. The feather-like icons sprinkled along this artistic network symbolize regeneration and immortality. The tiny and delicate flowers are repeated in the guard bands that form the border. Lush reds and black are accented with touches of Prussian blue, jade greens and golden maize.
While each is attractive in its own right, Persian Tapestry and Bidjar also coordinate well with one another. They are ideal for creating an ambience that is compelling yet informal, and particularly well suited to bringing out the best in nearly any time of furnishing, from leather upholstery to steel and glass to fine antiques. In short, these are classic styles for the modern age. Both feature a worsted New Zealand wool woven construction that assures a lifetime of performance in even the most active households. Size availability includes; 5.9-x-9; 8.8-x-10.6; and, 8.8-x-12. Estimated price of the 5-x-9 is $1,199.
Tailored Designs in English Manor… Diversity has become a hallmark of Karastan’s English Manor Collection and the series steadily grows with unrivaled new styles, Nottingham among them. Inspired by a rare antique Persian, Karastan’s version reflects a modern spin with the patchwork concept enlivened by robust, lush colors including spice red and a golden yellow tone.
Canterbury is woven from the same palette, mixing beautifully with Nottingham and Coventry Trellis Red. The stria detailing and cross-weave of space-dyed colors contribute to the hand-made appearance. A center medallion distinguishes the pattern and is offset by a border with an intarsia-like motif.
The eternally popular pairing of blue and white is beautifully captured by Karastan in its design of Somerset Lane. Evocative of the relaxed atmosphere of a summer holiday, this pattern harkens to its namesake vacation spot along the southern shore of the Bristol Channel. Two colorways are offered—Blue and Ivory/Blue.
Even the most ardent traditionalist can appreciate designs reflective of a “less is more treatment,” which is why Karastan has created Coventry Trellis. The simple and tailored lattice border is offered in Black or Red. It is an evergreen look that is a staple for polished decorating.
English Manor rugs are constructed of pure New Zealand worsted wool and undergo Karastan’s signature luster-wash process to soften the hand and enhance the rich colors. The size offering of these newest includes: 2.6-x-4; 2.6-x-8; 2.6-x-12; 2.9-x-5; 3.8-x-5; 5.7-x-7.11; 8-x-10.5; and, 8.6-x-11.6. Estimated retail for a 5.7-x-7.11 is $899.
