KARASTAN WEAVES GOOD FORTUNE INTO A NEW CLASSIC

DALTON, GA, February 27, 2008—In Chinese communities around the world, eight is considered the luckiest of numbers, which makes 2008 an especially auspicious year on the Chinese calendar. It also makes Mandarin, a traditional Chinese addition to Karastan’s English Manor Collection, a timely and fortuitous introduction.

Patterned after a spectacular antique, Mandarin features fresh colors and authentic Chinese figures. Soft, leafy vines, which are so subtle they settle into the background, wind their way around Chinese medallions and lotus blossom motifs. Its saffron yellow field is framed by a fretwork design that rests within an ivory border, all of which is beautifully accented with porcelain blue and cinnabar.

“Mandarin is a beautiful and important addition to the Karastan line in that it represents another segment of traditional," says Elizabeth Miller, senior vice president of style and design. "We see authentic Chinese patterning as classic and plan to expand this category as we design and develop new rug collections. As a leader in traditional design, we embrace the many facets of classic rug design as we translate them with comfort, craftsmanship and style for today's consumer."

Karastan’s Mandarin is woven on Van de Wiele looms in sizes of 2.6 x 8, 2.6 x 12, 2.9 x 5, 3.8 x 5, 5.7 x 7.11, 8 x 10.5 and 8.6 x 11.6. Use of New Zealand wool adds luxury, softness and incredible durability to this exciting new classic.
