Weaving plays an important environmental role since woven carpets and rugs last twice as long as those that are tufted. Increasing longevity by 200% reduces energy consumption by 50% and keeps woven products out of landfills 14 to 21 years beyond conventional floor coverings.

Karastan’s woven wool products, when compared to tufted, last so long that one cycle—and perhaps even two cycles—of carpet replacement are curbed. As a result, the environmental footprint of wovens is up to one-half less than that of ordinary products.
