All hand-knotted rugs are hand-made by weavers who hand-tie knots between layers of weft threads. Generally, the finer the weave (the smaller the knot) the more detailed the design. Once the rug has been woven to its finished size, it is cut off the loom. The remains of the warp strands become the fringe.
